Rock Cycle Cartoon

Objective: Create a cartoon representing the changes taking place in the rock cycle.

For this assignment you will need to:

• Create a cartoon illustrating a rock going through one phase of the rock cycle. (See examples below.)
• Draw and color the cartoon on the piece of construction paper. The cartoon picture must fill the entire space!
• Add a creative title to the top of your cartoon.
• Create a dialogue bubble for your rock. The bubble must contain words describing what phase your rock is going through and what it is changing into.

Examples:

• You could choose to start out as a metamorphic rock that undergoes tremendous heat and pressure, melts into magma, and turns into an igneous rock that is shot out of a volcano.
• You could choose to start out as a sedimentary rock that has been weathered and worn away, pushed deep under the earth’s crust, and has morphed into a metamorphic rock.
• You could choose to start out as an igneous rock that has cooled, been pushed to the earth’s surface, and is now being eroded and weathered with other sedimentary rocks.
• Create your own path for the rock to take! Use your book, page 32 to help decide which way you want to go.

Dialogue	Dialogue is creative, funny, and represents what the rock in changing into.	Dialogue represents what the rock is changing into.	No dialogue bubble.
Neatness and Color	Picture is neat and colorful.	Picture is neat or colorful.	Picture is not neat or colorful.
